Let the given be

(x + 3, 5) = (6, 2 x + y)

.
We know that if two points in a co – ordinate plane are said to be equal if and only if their corresponding coordinates are equal that is if the two points

are said to be equal if and only if

x = p

and

x = q

By using the above formula, the first coordinate is given by,

x + 3 = 6 x = 6 − 3 x = 3

Thus, the value of x is

Similarly, the second coordinate is given by,

5 = 2 x + y y = 5 − 2 x

Substitute the value

x = 3

in the above equation, and we have

y = 5 − 2 (3) = 5 − 6 = − 1
