Given that we have to one-fifth of a number minus 4 gives 3.
Let the number be x.
One-fifth of a number = 15×x=15x
According to the situation,
15x-4=3
Therefore, the required equation is 15x-4=3.
Now, finding the value of x,
15x-4=3
⇒15x=3+4
⇒15x=7
⇒x=7×5
⇒x=35
