Use the given information that a and b are in inverse proportion and hence the product of a and b would be constant.
ab = constant
Now, equate the product of 12 and 30 with product of x and 5 to solve for x.

x \times 5 = 12 \times 30

x = \frac{12 \times 30}{5}

x = 12 \times 6

\Rightarrow x = 72

Now, equate the product of 12 and 30 with product of 8 and y to solve for y.

8 \times y = 12 \times 30

y = \frac{12 \times 30}{8}

y = 3 \times 15
