The Champaran Satyagraha of 1917 was the main satyagraha development driven by Mahatma Gandhi in British India and is viewed as generally significant resistance to the Indian freedom movement. A farmer's uprising occurred in the Champaran region of Bihar in the Indian subcontinent during the British colonial time frame.
