Detailed Solution

Followers of Mahavira were known as Jainas.
Vardhaman Mahavir, the Jains' 24th Tirthankara, was the most famous Jaina thinker. He was a Lichchhavi prince born in Vaishali in the Vajji sangha. At the age of thirty, he left his family in search of enlightenment. Mahavira's followers became known as Jains and lived very simple lives, begging for food. They had to be honest, celibate, and not steal, and men had to give up their clothes. He followed a basic rule that men and women seeking true knowledge should leave their homes and society. He followed strict ahimsa rules and believed that all beings, including plants and animals, have the right to live.
