Detailed Solution

Let a weak monobasic acid be HCN

Hence the degree of dissociation of HCN is:

HCN        H++   CN-

1                0      0

1-α        α   α

a(1-α)  aα  aα

We know that -pH=-log10H+

[H]+=10-pH

Given, a=0.01

Again we know that Van't Hoff factor,

i=1+α1

H+=aα

10-pH=0.01α

10-4=0.01α

α=10-40.01=0.01

Hence Van't Hoff factor,
i=1+α1

=1+0.01

=1.01

Hence, the correct option is A
