The Pratihara Empire, the Pala Empire, and the Rashtrakuta Empire fought each other for dominance of northern India during the Tripartite Struggle, also known as the Kannauj Triangle Wars, in the ninth century. The struggle lasted almost two hundred years and was won by the Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty under the ruler Nagabhatta II.
