To make the elections more transparent and accurate, the Election Commission of India has introduced EVMs or Electronic Voting Machines. Earlier, the ballot papers were used, which was hectic to count so many votes. EVMs contain the symbols of the parties contesting the elections, and the voter has to press the button beside it. These are much simpler, and vote counting is automatic, preventing human error or misguidance and making the voting process efficient.
