Detailed Solution

Given pair of equations are,
2x+3y =8 (p1)x+(p+1)y =3p1
Two lines ax1+by1+c1=0 and ax2+by2+c2=0 are parallel only if a1a2=b1b2c1c2.
Since, equations are parallel,
a 1 a 2 = b 1 b 2   According to the question,
a 1 =2 a 2 =(p1) b 1 =3 b 2 =(p+1)   Therefore,
2 p1 = 3 p+1 2p+2=3p3 p=5
The value is p=5  .
Hence, option 3 is correct.
