Indian forests cleared Tea, coffee and rubber to meet the demands of Europeans.
The plantation idea of Colonialism introduced agriculture to India. Most of the plantation owners were European. The interests of Europeans were therefore taken into consideration while creating the legislation about the plantations. Large tracts of natural forests were removed to construct Tea, coffee, and rubber plantations. The British made money trading these goods. The colonial administration confiscated the woods and sold large tracts of land at low prices to European plantation owners. These regions were walled off or covered in tea or coffee plants. The planters were given complete freedom to oversee and control the farms. The workers received meagre pay and were subjected to unpleasant working conditions.
