Detailed Solution

Fortification was related to all valued cities.
A fortification is a military structure or facility used to establish authority in a territory during times of peace as well as for the defense of territories during times of conflict. The word is derived from the Latin words fortis, which means "strong," and facere ("to make"). Early fortification techniques included the construction of earthworks, which were layers of mud, twigs, pebbles, and other materials. These quickly evolved into walls, then palisades, and ornate wooden stockades. Walled cities first arose in the Middle East quite early on. One of the world's earliest known walled cities is Uruk, which was located in ancient Sumer (Mesopotamia). Prior to that, a wall surrounded the West Bank proto-city of Jericho as early as the eighth millennium BC.
