Detailed Solution

Concept- Assume Thomas's annual salary is Rs. x. Robert's pay is 10% less than Thomas'. So, Robert's pay is Rs (x-10 percent of x) . However, Robert's pay is Rs. 3600. Now compare and calculate the value of x. Similarly, if Jack's salary is Rs. y. Thomas's pay is 25% less than Jack's, hence Thomas's compensation equals Rs (y-25 percent of y) . But first, we estimated Thomas's wage. Now, compare and calculate the value.
of y. Assume Mary's salary is Rs. z once more. Jack's pay is 20% less than Mary's income, hence Jack's salary is Rs (z-20 percent of z) . Finally, solve it further to determine the value of z.
According to the question, four buddies named Robert, Thomas, Jack, and Mary work at the same factory. Also, Robert's income is 10% less than Thomas', and Thomas' salary is 25% less than Jack's, and Jack's salary is 20% less than Mary's, and Robert's salary is Rs. 3600.
First of all, suppose the salary of Thomas is Rs. x……..(i)
Since Robert's salary is Question Image less than that of Thomas so,
The salary of Robert Similarly, let us assume that the salary of Jack is Rs. y
Question Image.……..(ii)
However, Thomas's salary is Rs. 3600……….(iii)
Comparing equations (2) and (3) , we obtain
Question ImageQuestion ImageQuestion ImageQuestion Image……….(iv)
Similarly, let us assume that the salary of Jack is Rs. y………(v)
Since, Thomas's salary is Question Image less than that of Jack so,
The salary of Thomas = Rs. Question Image of Question Image………(vi)
But, from equation (iv) , we also have the salary of Thomas.
Now, on comparing equation (iv) and equation (vi) , we get
Question ImageQuestion ImageQuestion Image………(vii)
So, the salary of Jack is Rs. Question Image Similarly, let us assume that the salary of Mary is Rs. z………….(viii)
Since Jack's salary is Question Image less than that of Mary so,
The salary of Jack = Rs. Question Image of Question Image………….(ix)
But, from equation (vii) , we also have the salary of Jack.
Now, on comparing equation (vii) and equation (ix) , we get
Question ImageQuestion ImageQuestion ImageSo, the salary of Mary is Rs. Question Image.
Hence, 3 is the correct option.
