Concept: Double refraction occurs when a light beam transitions from a denser to a rarer medium via a glass slab. When it enters the glass slab, it does it once, and when it exits, it does so twice. When the emerging ray exits the glass slab, it emerges parallel to the incident beam. This is caused by the fact that the beam passes through and out of two parallel glass slabs.
