Detailed Solution

Frédéric Sorrieu was a French artist.
He created a set of four prints in 1848 to represent his vision of a world populated by "Democratic and Social Republics," as he called them. The first print in the series depicted men and women of all ages and socioeconomic classes from Europe and America marching in a long train and paying respect to the Statue of Liberty as they passed by it. During the French Revolution, artists symbolised Liberty as a female figure holding the Charter of Human Rights in one hand and the Torch of Enlightenment in the other.
