Free and Fair election in democracy is important as it leads to condition of no conflicts, gives real choice to the individuals and every party has a fair chance of winning.
Free and fair elections are the sole of democracy as without it the whole functioning of the country on the ideals of democracy would collapse. It is important as it provides a real choice between the candidates to choose from. Similarly, every party must have an equal chance of winning in the democracy, or else it would turn into the case of Mexico where, like any democracy, there were periodic elections in the country and also there was the existence of opposition parties. However, it was alleged that Mexico’s national party i.e the PRI used certain dirty tricks and always managed to let the opposition never win a single election in the country. This sabotaging of the election process makes it no longer democratic.
