Detailed Solution

Friction is reduced to zero by applying lots of lubricants between surfaces.
A lubricant, also known as a lube, is a substance that helps to reduce friction between the two surfaces in contact, which ultimately lowers the heat generated when the surfaces move. It may also transmit forces, transport foreign particles, or heat or cool the surfaces. Thus, lubricants are substances that reduce friction.
It has been shown that friction could increase or decrease with lubrication, depending upon the nature requirement. All greasy substance falls under this category. The most common lubricant used in our households is oil. For example, oil is used to smooth out the motion of door hinges making noise.
