Detailed Solution

The first president of Germany from 1919 until 1925 was Friedrich Ebert, a politician from Germany who belonged to the Social Democratic Party of Germany. In 1913, after August Bebel's passing, Ebert was chosen to lead the SPD. The Weimar Republic was an attempt to unify Germany after its loss in World War I. Friedrich Ebert was a moderate socialist who played a crucial role in this endeavour. Friedrich Ebert initially disapproved of the Treaty of Versailles because he did not believe that Germany was primarily to blame for the start of the First World War or that peace terms were acceptable. But in a short period, he realised that Germany was a Realpolitiker and had to accept the treaty.
