Bauxite first produces a chemical known as alumina, which is then processed further to produce aluminium. The reason behind bauxite’s richness in aluminium is that bauxite minerals are also formed by the decomposition of various rocks rich in aluminium silicates. Furthermore, aluminium, like iron, is very significant since it serves to strengthen iron and is also a good conductor of heat and electricity. Some of the biggest bauxite ore reserves are in the Amarkantak plateau, Maikal hills, and the Koraput district of Odisha.
