Detailed Solution

From the last 18th century, Britishers started to expand their trade and production of tea. They started demanding from India the plantation of opium on their farms so that they could export that opium to China. Initially, opium was not demanded by the Chinese people, but slowly Britishers made them habitual of this product. They made them habitual because due to the consumption of opium, they tended to feel less tired and could easily work for long hours without complaining, which was desired by the Britishers. The British made Chinese people work in tea plantations to expand the cultivation of tea then.
