Detailed Solution

Fuse is never inserted in a neutral wire.
Generally, the fuse is always connected to the live wire because if the live wire gets short-circuited or experiences excessive load somewhere within the appliance and results in a high current, then the fuse can cut the circuit and protect the appliance.
But, if it is connected to a neutral wire, the fuse will melt when excess current flows, but the appliance will still be connected with the high potential through the live wire. As a result, if a person touches the appliance, he receives a shock. So, the fuse is never inserted into a neutral wire.
