G-77 is a response to the Bretton Woods twins ( IMF and World Bank).
The twins lacked the tools necessary to handle the difficulties presented by the former colonies' poverty and lack of development. The majority of emerging nations did not profit from the Western economies' explosive expansion. As a result, they formed the G-77 to seek a New International Economic Order (NIEO). By "NIEO," they meant a system that would give them actual sovereignty over their natural resources, more support for international development, more equitable prices for raw materials, and better access for their produced goods to markets in richer nations.
