Detailed Solution

Gandhi started the Dandi March from Sabarmati Ashram.
Mahatma Gandhi, in March 1930 sent a letter to the then Viceroy with eleven listed demands. However, upon not receiving any reply, Gandhi decided to start the Salt March as a step closer to Poorna Swaraj. This was done to break the salt law which had been imposed by the British government. This brutal law gave the government a monopoly over the production, manufacture, and sale of salt, which is an essential commodity. The British government was also levying high taxes on it. Gandhi Ji and other leaders of the nationalist movement broke this sinful salt law by initiating the Dandi March which began at the Sabarmati Ashram and ended at Dandi where Gandhiji himself gathered the natural salt at the seashore and broke the salt law.
