Detailed Solution

Gandhiji withdrew from the 'Non-cooperation Movement' in February 1922.
Mahatma Gandhi believed that the Non-cooperation movement was becoming violent in many areas and that Satyagrahis needed to undergo thorough training before they were prepared for large-scale conflicts. In the district of Gorakhpur, violent protesters attacked a police station in Chauri Chaura, killing 22 police officers. Hence due to this incident, Gandhiji decided to end the Non-cooperation movement in February 1922. However, some leaders within Congress wanted to participate in the provincial councils' elections established by the Government of India Act of 1919. They believed it was crucial to make reforms by voicing opposition to British policy in the councils and exposing the undemocratic nature of these bodies.
