Gandhiji launched satyagraha when the British colonial authority of the Transvaal in South Africa approved a law that discriminated against Asians. Then in India, he continued this idea. In 1917, the Champaran district, which produced indigo, hosted the first Satyagraha campaign in India. This was a huge success as the British agreed to solve the problem of indigo cultivators. And in the later phase of the freedom struggle, this method had become the major act against the British.
