These cultures had stories taken from jatakas and Panchatantra, composed of ordinary people. The Stupa also had pradakshina Pata, which the devotees used to walk around the Stupa in a clockwise direction. The sculptures of the gateways can be seen in places like Sanchi Stupa, located in Madhya Pradesh, which was built over several centuries. The centre of the Stupa consisted of a relic casket that contained the bodily remains of Buddha and his followers.
