The manipulation of living organisms by the human needs to be  regulated. Some ethical standards are required to evaluate the morality of such activities that might help or harm living organisms. More over the consequences when GMO are released into the ecosystem are unpredicatable. In such scenario, the Indian Government has set up  organisation GEAC (Genetic Engineering Approval Committee), which will make decisions regarding the validity of GM research and the safety of introducing GM-organisms for public services.
