HNO3 does not give hydrogen gas when reacting with metals (except Mn and Mg).
When a metal reacts with HNO3, H2 is not released. This happens because HNO3 is a strong oxidising agent. Therefore, as soon as the H2 gas is formed, it oxidises to water. As a result, no hydrogen gas is produced during the reaction. Instead, it produces nitric oxides. So, HNO3 does not give hydrogen gas when reacting with metals.
