The compounds which are having same molecular formula but different spatial arrangement of atoms or groups around the double bond are called Geometrical isomers and the phenomenon is called Geometrical isomerism.
Geometrical isomers are
1) Cis isomer 2) Trans isomer
Eg : butane
Cis isomer: Same type of atoms (or) group of atoms lies on the same side of double bond is called cis isomer
