Detailed Solution

Germany attacked Poland in 1939.
Hitler was successful in his foreign policies, and his economist Hjalmar Schacht could help produce German superhighways and the Volkswagen, i.e., the people's car, through the state-funded work-creation program. Thus, they were also successful in their economic recovery efforts. However, Hitler's excessive investments in rearmament when the state still ran on deficit finances seemed to reverse Germany's destiny. To overcome the looming economic crisis, Hitler decided to accumulate resources by expanding territory. As a result, Germany attacked Poland in 1939. The following year, the country signed a Tripartite Pact with Japan and Italy, thus forming the Axis Powers. They fought against the Allies, initially led by France and the UK, but later joined by the USA and USSR. Thus, the Second World War commenced.
