Giuseppe Mazzini was an Italian revolutionary born in Genoa in 1807. He was exiled in 1831 as a 24-year-old for plotting a revolt in Liguria. Later, he established two other secret organisations: Young Europe in Berne and Young Italy in Marseilles, both of which attracted like-minded young men from Poland, France, Italy, and the German nations.
