Detailed Solution

In the life cycle of angiospermic plant diploid sporophytic stage alternates with haploid gametophytic stage.
Sporophytic stage: Dominant phase of life cycle.
* Zygote is the first cell of sporophytic generation.
* Zygote undergoes mitotic divisions and produce embryo which later develops into sporophytic plant.
* The sporophytic plants contains vegetative parts like root, stem, leaf and reproductive part flower.
* In the flower male reproductive organ stamen and female reproductive organ carpel are present.
* Each stamen consists of a filament and an anther, carpel consists of an ovary in which one or many ovules are present.
* Inside anther microspore mother cell undergo meiosis and produce microspores.
* Inside ovule megaspore mother cell undergoes meiosis and produce megaspore.
Gametophytic stage:
* It is haploid, much reduced structure and completely dependent on sporophyte.
* Microspore is the first cell of male gametophyte, megaspore is the first cell of female gametophyte.
* Microspore produce male gametes and megaspore produce egg cell.
* One male gamete fuses with female gamete and forms zygote.
