Give an account of pseudopodia ?

* They are temporary extensions of cytoplasm that help in locomotion in protozoans.
* Based on shape they are four types.
a. Lobopodia : They are blunt finger like.
Eg: Amoeba, Entamoeba.
b. Filopodia : They are fiber like. Eg: Euglypha.
c. Reticulopodia: These are net like.
Eg: Elphidium
d. Axopodia: These are sun-ray like.
Eg: Actinophrys.
* Pseudopodia are formed by conversion of gel and sol.
* Movement by pseudopodia is called pseudopodial or amoeboid movement.
