Sawai Raja Jai Singh established Jaipur as his new capital. The wealthy provinces of Gujarat and Malwa were claimed as subadari by powerful Rajput households. Sawai Raja Jai Singh of Amber ruled Malwa. In addition, the Rajputs strove to expand their domains by seizing portions of imperial lands close to their watans. Amber took over large sections of Bundi, while Nagaur was conquered and annexed by the Jodhpur family. Sawai Raja Jai Singh obtained the subadari of Agra in 1722 and made Jaipur his new headquarters.
