Detailed Solution

The metals at the top of the reactivity series are those that are extremely reactive. Highly reactive metals include calcium, aluminium, sodium, potassium, and other elements. These extremely reactive metals are typically found as their oxides. These metals' oxides are extremely stable in nature.

Typically, while extracting the metals from the ores, metal oxides are converted to metals.

Since these metals have a stronger affinity for oxygen than carbon does, carbon cannot remove the oxygen from the metals' oxides and transform them into their free states.

By reducing the oxides of the metals that are less reactive than carbon, their metals can be recovered from their oxides. Carbon reduction can be used to get iron.

Therefore, carbon is unable to decrease the oxides of highly reactive metals. As a result, heating highly reactive metal oxides with carbon does not yield highly reactive metal.

Hence, the correct answer is option A.
