Q.

Given below are two statements: one is labelled Assertion(A) and other is labelled Reason(R).

Assertion(A): Dendrites transmit impulses towards the cell body.

Reason(R): Schwann cells forms myeline sheath around the dendrites to conduct nerve impulse.

Dendrites receive incoming signals from other neurons or sensory receptors and transmit these impulses towards the cell body (soma) of the neuron.

Schwann cells form the myelin sheath around axons, not dendrites. The myelin sheath is a fatty insulating layer that wraps around some axons, allowing for faster conduction of nerve impulses along the axon.

Dendrites are the branched extensions of a neuron that receive incoming signals from other neurons or sensory receptors. When a signal reaches a dendrite, it generates small electrical changes known as graded potentials. These graded potentials are transmitted along the dendrites towards the cell body (soma) of the neuron. The cell body integrates these incoming signals from multiple dendrites. If the combined signals are strong enough to reach a certain threshold, an action potential (nerve impulse) is initiated at the initial segment of the axon, which then travels down the axon to communicate with other neurons or target cells.

So, both the statements are correct, but reason does not explain assertion.
