FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone) and LH (Luteinizing Hormone) are two essential hormones produced by the pituitary gland, a small pea-sized gland located at the base of the brain.

FSH is responsible for stimulating the development and maturation of follicles in the ovaries of females and the production of sperm in the testes of males.

LH works in conjunction with FSH to regulate the female menstrual cycle and ovulation. When a mature follicle has developed and the egg is ready to be released, a surge in LH triggers ovulation, causing the mature follicle to rupture and release the egg into the fallopian tube.

In males, LH stimulates the Leydig cells in the testes to produce testosterone, the primary male sex hormone.
