Given below are two statements.

Statement A: Purkinje fibres generate maximum action potentials, as many as SAN.

Statement B: They are modified cardiac muscle fibres.

In the light of above statements choose most appropriate answer from the options given below.

Purkinje fibres are modified cardiac muscle fibres in the walls of the ventricles. The action potential travels faster in these due to gap junctions. But, they cannot generate action potentials as many as SAN does.  

SAN generates maximum action potentials. It is the pace maker.
