Statement I : Gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT) is a specialised procedure of in vitro fertilisation.
Statement II : After in vitro fertilisation, the zygote or early embryo (with up to 8 blastomeres) could be transferred into the fallopian tube.
In light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below.

Statement I is incorrect. Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer (GIFT) is not a form of in vitro fertilisation (IVF). In GIFT, eggs and sperm are collected and then directly transferred into the fallopian tube, allowing fertilisation to occur naturally within the body. Unlike IVF, there is no external fertilisation in GIFT, so it is not considered a procedure of IVF.
Statement II is correct. In the in vitro fertilisation process, fertilisation occurs outside the body. The resulting zygote or early embryos (up to the 8-cell stage, also known as blastomeres) can then be transferred to the fallopian tube, a procedure known as zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT). This allows for early-stage embryos to continue developing in a natural environment within the female reproductive system. Embryos with more than 8 blastomeres can also be transferred into the uterus (IUT – intra uterine transfer), to complete its further development.
