SI: Rubisco is the most abundant enzyme in the world. Rubisco (Ribulose-1,5- bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase)
is an enzyme involved in the Calvin cycle, which is responsible for carbon fixation during photosynthesis. It catalyzes the carboxylation of ribulose- 1,5-bisphosphate (RuBP), playing a crucial role in the assimilation of carbon dioxide by plants. Due to its abundance and significance in photosynthesis, Rubisco is considered the most abundant enzyme on Earth.

SII: Photorespiration does not occur in C₄ plants. C₄ plants have a specialized biochemical pathway that allows them to spatially separate the initial carbon fixation step from the Calvin cycle, reducing the likelihood of oxygen competing with carbon dioxide at the active site of Rubisco. This spatial separation minimizes the occurrence of photorespiration in C₄ plants, making them more efficient in carbon fi ation under high light and high temperature conditions, compared to C₃ plants.
