Detailed Solution

'Go back, Simon' was the slogan to greet Simon Commission.
The British government laid out a Statutory Commission headed by Sir John Simon. The commission, called the Simon Commission, was entrusted with exploring India's political and administrative framework and also suggesting constitutional reforms. But since the commission's members were all British, the Indian politicians dismissed it. Finally, in 1928, when the Simon Commission showed up in India, slogans of  "Go back, Simon" was greeted accordingly. All the political parties joined the protest. Ruler Irwin declared an uncertain "territory status" commitment for India in October 1929. However, the timing was not clarified. Furthermore, he arranged a roundtable gathering to discuss the proposed constitution.
