Detailed Solution

Grand Trunk Road is an example of a national highway.
The Grand Trunk Road is one of South Asia's oldest modes of transportation, starting from Kabul (Afghanistan) to the East of India, Kolkata. This Grand Trunk Road connects India's two cities, Delhi and Kolkata. Later, during the British occupation, it was renamed the G T (Grand Trunk) Road, connecting Peshawar (Pakistan) to Calcutta. Now it extends from Amritsar (Punjab) to Kolkata. It has two parts: National Highway 1 from Amritsar to Delhi and National Highway 2 from Delhi to Kolkata.
