Detailed Solution

Green Revolution was a movement in the 1960s in India regarding the agricultural sector. It aimed at revolutionising the sector through using more technology, a High Yielding Variety of seeds, more equipped machinery, better irrigation facilities, etc. M S Swaminathan led the movement as a part of the much larger worldwide movement, which Norman E Borlaug initiated. The movement resulted in a high increase in food grain production in different parts of the country, especially Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Rice and wheat were the major crops that underwent the rise. However, some environmental concerns are being raised regarding the long-term effects of the revolution.
