Gulamgiri, published in 1871, was written by Jyotiba Phule.
The issues of caste discrimination first appeared in printed tracts and essays in the late nineteenth century. For example, in the book Gulamgiri, Jyotiba Phule, the Maratha leader of "low caste" protest movements, discussed the evils of the caste system. It is a nonfiction genre initially published in 1871 in Marathi and translated into English afterwards. The book was based on the racial theory of caste. The Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras were considered descended from Brahma's head, arms, thighs, and feet. This differentiated status gave the upper castes an advantage over the lower castes, which were most challenged and criticised in this work. Hence the answer is 1871.
