Let the amount of gun powder is x kg which contains 9 kg of nitre. As given in the
question,

⇒ y = P % × x = P 100 × x

Where,

x

is total value and

y

is a required percentage value.
Amount of nitre is 75% of x,

9 = 75100 × x

⇒ x = 9 × 100 75 Kg

⟹x=12 kg
Let the amount of gun powder is y kg which contains 2.3 kg of sulphur.
Amount of sulphur is 10% of y,

⇒ 2.3 = 10010 × y

⇒ y = 2.3 × 100 10 K g ⇒ y = 23010 k g

y = 23 kg
Therefore, the amount of gun powder that contains 9 kg of nitre is 12 kg and the amount of gun powder that contains 2.3 kg of sulphur is 23 kg.
Therefore, option (1) is correct.
