Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
The earliest Iron Age site in South India is Hallur, situated on the banks of the Tungabhadra River in a semi-arid area with scrub vegetation of Karnataka. A 6.4 m high little mound marks the location. Prof Nagaraja Rao made the initial discovery of the site in 1962, and excavation began in 1965. To retrieve archaeobotanical evidence and fresh, high-precision radiocarbon dates, additional sampling was done in the late 1990s. The house constructions discovered here had circular flooring made of schist chips and mud crushed into a firm surface.
