Detailed Solution

Hampi was the capital of Vijayanagar.
In Karnataka, Hampi is located along the Tungabhadra River. It served as the seat of the powerful Vijayanagar Empire.
Its advantageous position led to its selection as the nation's capital. The Tungabhadra River bordered Hampi on one side, and cliffs encircled it on the other three. Hampi was a significant hub for commerce in spices and cotton. The wealthy markets of Hampi were where European traders used to purchase these products in the fifteenth and sixteenth century. Additionally, Hampi conducted business with Persia, Arabia, Burma (now Myanmar), China, and several Indian Ocean islands. Periodically, traders from distant lands came to Hampi to buy and sell items.
