Detailed Solution

HCF of two co-primes is 1.

For Example, consider 23 and 24

23 = 1 x 23

24 = 1 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 3

The Highest Common Factor (HCF) of any two numbers is the largest factor that is common to both of them.

Here nothing is common in both the numbers except 1.

Hence, HCF of 23 and 24 = 1

Similarly, any pair of co-prime numbers will have only 1 as their common factor. Therefore, we can conclude that the HCF of co-prime numbers is always 1.
