Detailed Solution

Johann Gutenberg developed the first-known printing press in the 1430s.
Due to the ever-growing educated populace in the 15th Century, there came a need for a long list of printed textbooks. But during that time printing was not at all cheap and it was also not properly used to serve the public in a cheap and pocket-friendly way. Moreover, during that time China's woodblock printing had grown to be quite famous. This also helped in a way that many people also started woodblock printing not only for textbooks but also used for various other purposes, like in textiles, paintings, etc. As a result of bringing about a change in the printing culture around the world, Johann Gutenberg in 1440 brought about a revolution in the world of printing. He opened the first printing press in Strasbourg, which was quicker as well as cheaper in its way.
