Many herbivorous mammals lack canines and have a gap called diastema between the incisors and the premolars. Herbivores have longer intestines and carnivores have larger stomachs. Carnassial teeth are the last premolar of the upper jaw and first molar of the lower jaw having cusps with sharp cutting edges of carnivorous mammals modified for  shearing flesh.
