Detailed Solution

Historians divide Indian history into ‘ancient’, ‘medieval’ and ‘modern’. Indian history has typically been divided into "ancient," "mediaeval," and "modern" periods by historians. This division also experienced issues. This periodisation is a western import. The Middle Ages are seen as a time before modernity in the West. The modern era was characterised by the development of modernity in science, logic, democracy, equality, and liberty, among others. However, Indians were denied equality, freedom, and liberty while the British were in power. Therefore, we cannot classify this era as modern.
